How to become an ATC
1) In order to provide ATC in the Czech airspace you need to be a VATSIM member. Furthermore, you have to join the European division and VACC CZ as a domestic VACC.
2) Before applying for ATC training, you have to have flown at least 50 online hours as a pilot (it is an absolute minimum needed).
3) You shall download a VATSIM supported simulation radar client software, preferably EuroScope. All radar clients are complex programs based on real equipment. So read the manual with care and take your time for setting up the software properly.
4) Download necessary configuration files specific for the Czech airspace from our website.
5) Without an ATC rating, you will be able to connect as an observer only. Giving instructions to aircraft is not possible, you are allowed to watch and listen another ATCo and pilots. So start studying. Go through VATEUD training department, where you find all general info about ATC, ratings, procedures, tests, etc. You can find study materials on our website, too, most of them focused on providing ATC in the Czech airspace.
6) Contact VACC CZ Training Director with request to join the VACC CZ ATC team. He will advise you on available practical training to become a virtual ATC.
7) As soon as your practical training schedule is defined, be ready to pass the theoretical test on the VATEUD - TD site.
8) Didn't you pass the test? Then - study, study, study - and once the hold-on period is over, re-apply for the test. Your practical training at VACC CZ can start only with VATEUD TD exam passed.
