LKAA FIR - Czech Republic - is located in the middle of the European continent, among Germany and Austria FIRs (EDBB, EDFF, EDMM, LOVV) on the West and South, Poland (EPWW) on the Northeast and Slovakia (LZBB) on the East side. The main civil airport is Prague-Ruzyne located in the centre of the country. Other international airports are located in the regional centres - Ostrava-Mosnov, Brno-Turany, Karlovy Vary, Pardubice, Prerov and Kunovice. Within the country, there are more than 100 smaller - obviously VFR - airports with strong local traffic.
The FIR is vertically divided into lower airspace (up to FL245) and upper airspace (FL245-660). The domestic traffic is limited to the lower airspace only. The airspace is full RVSM capable. The flight levels are divided on the basis of the SWEVEN-NEODD rule (West - even, East - odd levels). Most of airports is standard ILS equipped; however VOR/DME approach and LLZ only procedures are available as well. We can handle the PAR radar procedure too on request.
Total number of movements in real-life Prague FIR was 435.000 (2003), which represents approx 5% of all European movements.
