We are seeking Authorized Training Organizations (ATOs) like VAs, ATC Divisions and local facilities, or stand alone training providers who already have excellent pilot training programs to become ATOs in this beta. We will be interested in talking to those who don't yet have a program but are motivated and resourced to build one. We are also specifically looking for ATOs who can specialize in providing services to existing Veteran VATSIM members who already have the skills and knowledge outlined in the document for P1 in a fast track fashion.

This is a beta test and we expect feedback from those participating to help us change the requirements as they exist today in order to allow for the desired flexibility in how ATOs deliver content. We expect to learn from this beta and adjust to what makes sense without overburdening VATSIM or ATOs with paperwork and pilots with requirements that don't add value to the intent of the ratings.

ATOs will have a separate listing in the Links Manager (VA Partner) system so interested pilots can contact them easily. We would move to an internal listing system eventually. For pilots, watch for ATOs opening in the next month or so to See if their program meets your needs. We will want pilots going through ATO programs to provide some feedback on the system as a part of gaining their rating under the beta. Any rating issued during the beta period will be forever valid in VATSIM.

And, pilot ratings will never be mandatory for anyone but we hope they add a lot of vale to those who wish to gain deeper understanding of aviation science and practice worldwide.

Hi all,

Shannon noted I hadn't sent this notice to this list, an oversight I apologize for. The public notice was posted last weekend.

Attached find the current document that describes how ATOs are qualified and the requirements for the P1 rating. This is a beta so it is still open for changes.

Please have a look and let me know if your facility or division wishes to be qualified to be an ATO and join the beta and then get set up to provide P1 ratings. Groups with existing programs should find that most of the requirements are met by their current set up and there should be only minor changes at worst. Don't let a requirement stop you, let's talk about it. Once qualified as an ATO, then you certify to deliver the P1 given most any venue you think works and as long as we're covering the material in the list, still subject to adds/removals under the beta based on beta ATOs and students, it is highly likely you will get certified. We can talk about the situation with past grads and how we handle them in yoru system.

If you want to build a program but don't have one already, use this as a guideline on how to build up your program so it will qualify without difficulty.

There is no requirement for any division or facility to be involved in this unless they want to.

VATSIM member Jesus Altuve has created a simple yet effective program to allow SB4 users to inject their AI models into VATSIM.

As stated in the VATSIM forums What this little program does is simply create an SMS file for SquawkBox 4 that will display the correct model/livery when flying online, it will use *ANY* AI traffic package and make it visible while flying online! no more VIP or Paper Planes!

The readme file includes an advanced users section that even tells you how to make it display correct AI traffic EVEN if the users connected in the session have their clients configured incorrectly! specially those connected with FSInn.
